White Stone or Marble?
There are many materials on the market, the main two being stone and marble. If a white fireplace is what you are looking for then there are many limestones to choose from, Portuguese limestone being a popular choice by many with a good balance of character and without being too heavily veined. Limestones have a matt finish and compliment any colour schemes. White marble comes in two main types – micra and natural. Micra marble is a man-made material which is very consistent in appearance and ideal for people who prefer a more uniform look. Natural marble on the other hand is typically heavily veined and brimming with personality – each piece unique. Both marbles have a polished finish and come in many shades of cream, white and off-white.
